Post in response to Kotaku DLC article

More of a rant anyway…

Meetwo was developed by marketing. For people on the fence about buying both versions.
Sakurai could point out, it isn’t bleeding anyone really, just inspiring a choice.
There is a limit. I notice heating of a game system is greater when a game of any graphic quality is run straight off the hardware than off a disc or some removable hardware. Good thing about cartrs, they can over heat but the system won’t. Plug in another or blow. Eventually cel phones now have to be blown at like cartridge. Stock markets are more concerned about this, they want to see production, no sales (that’s all projections), so they make DLC to show endless production.
It would likely cost more to build a dlc system into it.
Usually if they make it after you pay after in DLC cost, if before (Fantasy Life) you pay before (like a 45 dollar game being 60 with a 12 dollar dlc being 8.). Sometimes, like with Fire Emblem Awakening (Dread and Dress), they sell an Easter Egg hunt and in both cases they hold Street Pass and online functions hostage and all cases it is not advertised on box or ads or on the website.
Hyrule Warriors came closest to advertising it, well mostly on website, never saw the box. Games like Arkham Origins, Assassin’s Creed Games may be exceptions and in Wii U cases often tried to worm their way out of doing it. They wonder why sales are weak. Promises can be banked on too. So much lost trust in gaming. Sakurai is a creative department guy, not sure he has had time to look at the marketing dept.
Freelance and a jaded view gives you a better outside view of that part perhaps, even a chip on the shoulder with upgradable potential. Whole idea that development being expensive, well, they dev on a dev and it’s even more expenses to pay for that expense. Unless they are linking real cheap crap to our games and with Mario Kart, I am suspecting. A bad little oval, a train that hits softer than a bus (Turnpike) or a Street Car. The best effort were Animal Crossing, F-Zero, Hyrule and Oddly enough Neo Bowser (one that has anything Mario about it. well Animal Crossing may be in Wart’s world), the train cave is nice in concept.
Bleeding also has a reverse effect, a state of decay, where even the people selling crap have only stones to bleed.
As he admitted. they already had more than enough game in Super Smash Bros. Oddly enough, as a point, I didn’t buy a lot of things of a greater value than the DLC that pissed me off because of the DLC. Largely in outrage. Not just fiscal planning.
